Key facts
Key facts: what is in GlucoZen drops?
- Chromium: 0.7 mcg per 1 mL (2% of the Daily Value), as chromium picolinate. No other ingredient has a printed amount of its own.

- Average share if all 22 weighed the same: about 9 mg each. Real shares are uneven and not published.
- Water, citrus extract and natural flavors form the base, sweetened with stevia and xylitol.
- Not on the label: berberine, cinnamon, Okinawa honey, resveratrol, turmeric, probiotics. The brand info page names them; the bottle does not.

Reading a blend
How do you read a proprietary blend?
A proprietary blend lists a total weight for a group of ingredients and names each one, but it does not need to print each amount. FDA rules require the names to run from the heaviest to the lightest (FDA Labeling Guide Ch. IV).
That order gives a ceiling for each ingredient. The ingredient in place k can weigh at most 200 divided by k, because each earlier ingredient weighs at least as much. Maca, first, could be the whole 200 mg. L-carnitine, last, can be about 9 mg at most.
These ceilings are best-case numbers. Real amounts are likely lower, and the maker does not publish them.
The 22 names
What are the 22 blend ingredients, in label order?
| Place | Ingredient | At most per 1 mL |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Maca (Lepidium meyenii) root extract | 200 mg |
| 2 | Grape (Vitis vinifera) seed extract | 100 mg |
| 3 | Guarana (Paullinia cupana) seed extract | About 67 mg |
| 4 | African mango (Irvingia gabonensis) fruit extract | 50 mg |
| 5 | Eleuthero root extract | 40 mg |
| 6 | Astragalus root extract | About 33 mg |
| 7 | Green tea (Camellia sinensis) leaf extract | About 29 mg |
| 8 | Gymnema leaf extract | 25 mg |
| 9 | Forskohlii root extract (Coleus forskohlii) | About 22 mg |
| 10 | Bird pepper fruit extract (Capsicum annuum) | 20 mg |
| 11 | Grapefruit (Citrus paradisi) seed extract | 18 mg |
| 12 | Asian ginseng root extract (Panax ginseng) | About 17 mg |
| 13 | Raspberry ketones | 15 mg |
| 14 | L-glutamine | 14 mg |
| 15 | L-tyrosine | 13 mg |
| 16 | L-arginine | 12 mg |
| 17 | Beta-alanine | 12 mg |
| 18 | Monoammonium glycyrrhizinate (a licorice compound) | 11 mg |
| 19 | GABA (gamma aminobutyric acid) | 11 mg |
| 20 | L-ornithine HCl | 10 mg |
| 21 | L-tryptophan | 10 mg |

Figures are rounded. A ceiling is not an amount. For many ingredients the label gives no clue about the real share beyond this order.
Outside the blend
What about the chromium?
Chromium sits apart from the blend. The panel prints 0.7 mcg per serving, as chromium picolinate, at 2% of the Daily Value. Two servings a day give 1.4 mcg.
The adult Adequate Intake runs from 25 to 35 mcg a day, and blood sugar trials typically used 200 to 1,000 mcg a day (NIH ODS: Chromium fact sheet). So the printed amount is a small fraction of both. Our post on chromium and blood sugar covers the trials.
The base
What is the liquid made of?
The label names five other ingredients: deionized water, organic citrus extract, natural flavors, stevia and xylitol. Stevia and xylitol sweeten the drops. The label does not use the term sugar-free.
The FDA says xylitol can make a dog’s blood sugar fall sharply within 10 to 60 minutes (FDA: Xylitol is dangerous for dogs). Store the bottle where pets cannot get at it.
Plain groups
What kinds of ingredients are in the blend?
Herbs studied for glucose
Gymnema, Asian ginseng, astragalus and eleuthero. Evidence is limited, mild or inconclusive at doses far above the bottle.
Caffeine sources
Guarana and green tea leaf. The amount of caffeine is not printed.
Weight-studied extracts
Coleus forskohlii, African mango, bird pepper, raspberry ketones and L-carnitine. NIH reviews rate that evidence as small, short or insufficient (NIH ODS: Weight-loss supplements).
Roots and seeds
Maca leads the blend. Grape seed and grapefruit seed have no published role in our sources.
Amino acids and licorice
Glutamine, tyrosine, arginine, beta-alanine, GABA, ornithine, tryptophan, carnitine and a licorice compound sit near the end of the list.
Marketing gap
Which ingredients are named in ads but missing from the bottle?
The glucoszen.com brand page and a brand graphic name Okinawa honey, berberine HCl, cinnamon bark, resveratrol, turmeric, Bifidobacterium breve and Akkermansia muciniphila. The label lists none of them.
We follow the label. If you want any of those seven, this bottle does not list them. See our posts on cinnamon and berberine.
Who should take care
Which ingredients need the most care?
- Gymnema and Asian ginseng could lower blood sugar, so diabetes medicine users should check with their doctor (LiverTox: Gymnema).
- In people with high blood pressure or heart or kidney disease, licorice (glycyrrhizinate) has caused severe effects (NCCIH: Licorice root).
- L-tryptophan was recalled in 1989 to 1990 after an outbreak of a rare illness, and the amount in GlucoZen is tiny (CDC MMWR: L-tryptophan and EMS).
- LiverTox rates green tea extract as a rare but well-established cause of liver injury (LiverTox: Green tea).
- Eleuthero has pushed digoxin results up, in some cases falsely (MSKCC: Siberian ginseng (eleuthero)).
The bottle asks medication users and people with a medical condition to see a physician before use. It excludes under-18s and pregnant or nursing mothers.
Be fair
What does the label leave out?
| Item | Status |
|---|---|
| All 22 blend names, in weight order | Printed |
| Chromium amount and form | Printed |
| Amount of each blend ingredient | Not published |
| Caffeine per serving | Not published |
| Maker or factory | Not published |
| Third-party test results | Not published |
The label is complete on names and thin on amounts. That is the honest summary.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What are the ingredients in GlucoZen?
Per 1 mL: chromium 0.7 mcg as chromium picolinate and a 200 mg proprietary herbal blend of 22 ingredients, from maca first to L-carnitine last. The base is water, citrus extract, natural flavors, stevia and xylitol.
Why does GlucoZen not list each ingredient amount?
The 22 ingredients sit in a proprietary blend. FDA rules let a blend print only its total weight, here 200 mg, as long as the names run from heaviest to lightest.
Does GlucoZen contain berberine or cinnamon?
Not on the bottle label. The brand info page names berberine HCl and cinnamon bark, but the Supplement Facts on the bottle do not. Read the Supplement Facts on the bottle that arrives.
Is there caffeine in GlucoZen?
Yes, from guarana and green tea, but the label does not say how much. Guarana extract tops out near 67 mg a serving, and caffeine is only a fraction of that weight.
Is there licorice in GlucoZen?
Yes, as monoammonium glycyrrhizinate, 18th in the blend. NCCIH links glycyrrhizin to irregular heartbeat and severe effects in people with high blood pressure, heart or kidney disease.
What is the main ingredient in GlucoZen?
Maca root extract is listed first, so it weighs the most of the 22 blend ingredients. Only chromium has an amount printed on the panel.
Our view
Our view
The ingredient list is a fair mix of familiar plants, amino acids and one trace mineral. We like that every blend name is printed and that chromium has an exact amount.
We would like to see the single amounts, the caffeine figure and a test report. Without them, the best you can do is read the label order, apply the simple division, and bring the bottle to your pharmacist.
Above all, trust the panel on the bottle in your hand, not a graphic on another web page.

Check the bottle when it arrivesThe checkout shows the total first, and you can compare the panel with this list on delivery day.
