Chromium in GlucoZen: How 0.7 mcg Compares With the Research
GlucoZen lists 0.7 mcg of chromium (2% DV) as chromium picolinate in each 1 mL serving, or 1.4 mcg a day at the label dose. Chromium trials used 200-1,000 mcg a day (NIH ODS: Chromium fact sheet), and a review of 58 trials found only slight changes of unclear value. The ADA does not recommend chromium for blood sugar benefit (ADA Standards of Care 2026, Sec. 5).

The basics
What is chromium, and where is it on the GlucoZen label?
Chromium is a trace mineral needed in tiny amounts, measured in micrograms (mcg). The GlucoZen label prints it on its own line, above the proprietary blend.
Each 1 mL serving lists 0.7 mcg of chromium as chromium picolinate, 2% of the Daily Value. That makes chromium the only active ingredient with an exact amount on the bottle. The 22 blend ingredients share 200 mg with no single amounts shown (FDA Labeling Guide Ch. IV: proprietary blends).
The Daily Value for chromium is 35 mcg (NIH ODS: Chromium fact sheet). So one serving covers a small slice of it, and two servings cover about 4%.
| Label name | Chromium (as Chromium Picolinate) |
|---|---|
| What it is | Trace mineral, mineral |
| Position on the label | Listed on its own, outside the blend |
| Per 1 mL serving | 0.7 mcg (2% DV); 1.4 mcg a day at 2 servings |
| Amount used in research | 200-1,000 mcg a day in trials; adult AI 25-35 mcg |
| Strength of evidence | Weak (slight changes) |
| Main use studied | Trace mineral studied for blood sugar |
| Main caution | At this dose, side effects are unlikely; higher-dose chromium supplements are not advised for blood sugar by the ADA. |
Dose check
How much chromium does GlucoZen give you each day?
At 1 mL twice daily, you get 1.4 mcg of chromium a day. The bars below set that next to the low end of each research amount.
The chromium bar is the one bar built from a printed number, not a best-case estimate. It shows 1.4 mcg against 200 mcg, the low end of the trial range (NIH ODS: Chromium fact sheet). That is less than 1% of the smallest amount studied.
One day at a 200 mcg trial dose equals roughly 143 days of GlucoZen. The other bars are blend ingredients, such as African mango.
The evidence
What did chromium research find for blood sugar?
Research found only slight changes, and experts are not sure they matter. A 2019 review of 58 trials saw small drops in fasting glucose and HbA1c of unclear clinical significance (NIH ODS: Chromium fact sheet).
Trials in one review
A 2019 review pooled 58 trials. Fasting glucose and HbA1c moved only slightly, and the size of the change was of unclear clinical value (NIH ODS: Chromium fact sheet).
Adults, 24 weeks, no effect
One 24-week trial in 137 adults found no effect from chromium (NIH ODS: Chromium fact sheet).
People across 16 studies
NCCIH counts 16 studies with 868 people and calls the chromium evidence limited (NCCIH: Diabetes and dietary supplements).
None of these studies tested GlucoZen, and all used far more chromium than the bottle holds.
Side by side
GlucoZen chromium vs. daily needs and trial doses
GlucoZen's daily chromium is a small fraction of the adult Adequate Intake and a tiny fraction of trial doses (NIH ODS: Chromium fact sheet).
| Amount | Chromium per day | GlucoZen's share (1.4 mcg) |
|---|---|---|
| GlucoZen, 1 mL twice daily | 1.4 mcg | 100% |
| Adequate Intake, women 19-50 | 25 mcg | About 6% |
| Adequate Intake, men 19-50 | 35 mcg | 4% |
| Daily Value on labels | 35 mcg | 4% |
| Low end of trial doses | 200 mcg | 0.7% |
| High end of trial doses | 1,000 mcg | 0.14% |
The label's own "2% DV" line matches the math: 0.7 divided by 35 is 2%. You can check it yourself on the GlucoZen Supplement Facts.
Expert guidance
Do diabetes experts recommend chromium supplements?
No. The American Diabetes Association's 2026 Standards of Care say micronutrient supplements such as chromium are "not recommended for glycemic benefits" (recommendation 5.16) (ADA Standards of Care 2026, Sec. 5).
A label that says "Blood Sugar Support" is a marketing phrase, not a medical finding.

Is the chromium in GlucoZen safe, and who should be careful?
At 1.4 mcg a day, side effects from the chromium itself are unlikely. The bigger questions come from the rest of the bottle.
NCCIH says it is very important not to replace medical treatment for diabetes with an unproven health product (NCCIH: Diabetes and dietary supplements). Do not stop, skip or lower any medicine because you started GlucoZen.
- The label says GlucoZen is not for anyone under 18, or for pregnant or nursing mothers.
- The label asks you to consult a physician first if you take a medication or have a medical condition.
- The same bottle holds gymnema, which may lower blood sugar (LiverTox: Gymnema). If you use diabetes medicine, ask your doctor before adding it. See GlucoZen and medicines.
Read the bottle
Where do you find the chromium line on the bottle?
Look at the Supplement Facts panel on the right side of the label. Chromium sits near the top, right under the serving size, with its own amount and Daily Value.
Below it comes the 200 mg proprietary herbal blend. Under FDA rules, a blend must show its total weight and list ingredients from heaviest to lightest, but it does not have to show each one (FDA Labeling Guide Ch. IV: proprietary blends).

What is fair to say
- The amount is printed, so you know exactly what you get.
- The form, chromium picolinate, is named.
What to keep in mind
- Trials used 200-1,000 mcg a day, not 1.4 mcg.
- The ADA does not advise chromium for blood sugar.
Before you order
What should you ask before counting on the chromium in GlucoZen?
Treat the chromium line as a small extra, not the reason to buy.
Am I already taking chromium?
Check your multivitamin. Show the total micrograms to your pharmacist.
What does my doctor want me to track?
Keep the glucose checks and lab tests your care team already set.
What am I paying for?
Most of each serving is the 22-ingredient blend. Read the full ingredient list before you decide, and compare packs at the secure checkout, which shows the price before you pay.
FAQ
Chromium in GlucoZen: common questions
How much chromium is in GlucoZen?
Each 1 mL serving of GlucoZen lists 0.7 mcg of chromium as chromium picolinate, which is 2% of the Daily Value. The label directs 1 mL twice daily, so a full day adds up to 1.4 mcg. It is the only ingredient on the bottle with its own printed amount.
Is 1.4 mcg of chromium a day enough to affect blood sugar?
No study on file tested chromium at 1.4 mcg a day. Trials used 200 to 1,000 mcg daily and found only slight changes of unclear clinical value (NIH ODS: Chromium fact sheet). GlucoZen's daily amount is under 1% of the lowest trial dose, so those results do not carry over to the drops.
Does chromium picolinate help with type 2 diabetes?
The evidence is weak. A 2019 review of 58 trials found slight drops in fasting glucose and HbA1c of uncertain importance, and a 24-week trial in 137 adults found no effect (NIH ODS: Chromium fact sheet). The American Diabetes Association does not recommend chromium for blood sugar benefit (ADA Standards of Care 2026, Sec. 5).
How much chromium do adults need each day?
The Adequate Intake is 35 mcg a day for men aged 19 to 50 and 25 mcg for women in the same age range, according to the NIH (NIH ODS: Chromium fact sheet). The Daily Value printed on labels is 35 mcg. GlucoZen's 1.4 mcg a day equals about 4% of that Daily Value.
Can I take GlucoZen with a chromium supplement?
Ask your doctor or pharmacist first, and show them both labels. The GlucoZen label asks anyone taking a medication or living with a medical condition to consult a physician before use. Add up the micrograms from every product so your care team sees the total.
Why is chromium listed outside the proprietary blend?
Chromium is a mineral with a Daily Value, so the label shows its exact amount and percent DV on its own line. The 22 herbal and amino acid ingredients sit inside a 200 mg blend, which FDA rules let brands list by weight order without single amounts (FDA Labeling Guide Ch. IV: proprietary blends).
